Re: National League Cup

I can only assume the PL have agreed to throw some money in for this thing because I have no idea what else NL clubs have to gain from it. I would be shocked if we sell more than 500 tickets per game. It certainly isn't a money spinning glamour competition. Obviously on the PL side, they get competi...

Re: Gateshead (H) Thread

Tough side to play against. They make the game quite tedious by keeping it amongst their back 4 for minutes on end, daring you to come and get it. It's a mental battle as much as anything else.

Re: Sutton (H)

National League aren't famed for sense. In a couple of weeks, a number of clubs have to do 2 long haul Saturday/Tuesday away trips. We never get more than 1300 on a Tuesday night. Sutton tend to bring about 300. So maybe we'll scrape 1200. Sutton are no great shakes but without Akinola and presumabl...

Re: Maidenhead (A)

It is worrying that a) we've played largely well without winning again and b) despite playing well we could have lost as the opponent had two decent chances. When we're on top we need to be more clinical. We constantly mess up the final pass or miss the target with our finishes. Rendall and Dion sho...

Re: Maidenhead (A)

If Dion and Hill are out then I think we have to change shape. I'd also drop RGC and Morias.

Re: York City (Home)

I thought Umerah was meant to be our focal point but despite getting minutes at the back of pre season he's still yet to start. We're trying to shoehorn Morias into the side presumably in the hope that minutes will get him fit. To my mind he needs a weight cut and a couple of weeks in the gym before...

Re: York City (Home)

Rubbish today.

These forwards aren't exactly cheap and unproven but they are certainly not doing anything useful at the moment. No genuine pace threat and no aerial threat. It's so easy to defend against.

Re: Keenan Appiah-Forson

Good player. Energetic midfielder. We played him quite deep, won a lot of ball but could also carry it forward if needed. Very small but gives as good as he gets.

Re: Southend Away

Our way of trying to hold a lead is frankly ridiculous. We lose all shape and impetus with our changes, and despite having 5 or 6 strung across our box we still apparently have no idea how to stop crosses. The token effort is embarrassing - you need to get tight and your team mates need to back you ...

Margate may have a match report somewhere in their club archives perhaps? It seems we never published one.

Tony Boot got the goal. Not sure if it was a pen or not.

Re: Woking (a) Thread

A little worrying to lose against such an awful side. I think they're in a relegation battle, so what does that say about our prospects? They could barely pass the ball 5 yards to each other and seemed happy to waste time at home! We had the ball for pretty much 75 minutes and created close to nothi...

Re: Josh Strizovic

I'm not entirely sure why we keep extending his deal and why he wants to stay. I assume it's so we've got a GK group for training purposes on our side, but surely Striz would rather go and become a permanent number one somewhere?

Re: Wealdstone (H)

Not sure why Rutherford didn't start but Rendall looked short of the standard to me. Needs work before he's starting at this level. Midfield looked really soft. Obviously it takes time to gel but on first viewing Hess and N'Guessan do not compliment each other. Both plodded about and didn't really o...

Re: 2024-2025 Season starting 10 August 2024

As it stands we will not be in the top ten. Vincent cannot be our only left back for an entire season, he is a good footballer but teams will start to bombard him with diagonals and he struggles with it. Ling on the wrong side isn't the answer either. A midfield of N'Guessan and Hessenthaler is not ...
