Re: NL: Southend United (H) 12 August 2023

As Digger says, they hadn't sold many tickets originally and then suddenly everyone jumps on the bandwagon cos they won a game. As for the trouble, as noted above every year around 50 or so knob heads attach themselves to each club and attempt to turn this game into some kind of row. I doubt many re...

Re: NL: Altrincham (A) 5 Aug 2023

I reckon if Johnson was fit, Westy may very well have found himself on the bench. Page is surely the guy we are expecting to provide ammo from the left this season.

Agree we are definitely going to need to dip into the loan market to cover all the extra minutes and inevitable injuries.

Re: No Views From The Sieve

Those new big red posts underneath it mean you cannot see more than about 2/3 of the pitch from anywhere in the sieve bar the first couple of steps. If you stand between them both goals are obscured. If you stand either side of them the other half of the pitch is obscured.

Re: West Ham Friendly

Think the one and only official sell out in our post 92 era was against Ipswich?

Re: Manny Gone

Killing your aging, best creative player at wing back is a non-starter for me. 433 is the way forward. I am sorry to see Manny go, apparently a high earner and we can sign 2 for the price of 1, but purely on football he walks into our current team. If we really are going to play 3 centre backs with ...

Re: Friendly: Hornchurch (A)

It doesn't shock me. We have made a couple of quality signings but overall in the squad we are a long way short. I would guess the lack of recent signings is budgetary and hence we might not see the improvements we need at all. I don't like wingbacks with the players we have, I don't think it will w...

Re: Southend United

Not really sure what they are protesting about. Should the chairman pay all the bills out of his own pocket? The business doesn't have the money to pay. As I understand it, Kimura are interested in buying but the terms are not agreed. I can only speculate, as nothing is public, that Kimura do not wa...

Re: Southend United

Beyond me how they're still in the division. Typical of the NL board to drag their feet tho. They cannot be deemed capable of completing the season with all the financial issues. The ground hasn't been looked after through summer. They don't have enough players and are under embargo. They still have...

Re: Friendly: Romford (A)

From listening to Strevs interview, he is still trying to set standards now. If we concede a goal he will be fuming I bet.

Re: Where do we go from here?

Some of my friends started coming to us more after the Olympic stadium move because they hate it there! But unfortunately the football they've seen in recent years has not kept them coming back much. I've noticed that the toilets do at least have bog roll and soap for the last year or so which is al...

Re: Where do we go from here?

We have a wonderful clubhouse these days and need to make more of it. Nobody drinks there outside of matchday any more. Even at 2pm on a Saturday you can walk up the bar and get served in seconds. There has to be something about encouraging more people to use us as their local pub. In terms of atten...

Can't say I'd be very happy with a return to wing backs. Only one game so we'll see how it progresses.

Re: Justham Off to Southend?

Very welcome news. A really good player and bloke.

I do feel he's dipped slightly since Glen Johnson left, may not be linked, but I feel he's gone a step back in terms of controlling his box and judging when to go or stay. Still a great GK tho and we'd struggle to do better.
