I'd like a target man but not Akinfenwa. He can't actually jump.stanton101 wrote:I'd love to see akinfenwa up front with JC. A target man you can't miss and a natural goalscorer, would be nice, but sadly won't happen.
4-0?!?!?!?!?
I'd say we were the better team for only half hour and somehow won 4-0!
Between the first and the second goals they were by far the better team, but we defended well and after Doey scored (he's been due one!) it was all over. Fourth goal was superb, can't think of a better team goal we've scored this season.

Cousins made at least one superb save. They were far superior for most of the firs half and had good chances in the second.
On the train there a couple of their fans were saying they were expecting them to get battered and Jamie always scores against them, they weren't wrong.
Never seen such a bunch of Tarquins in all my life they must be the most middle class fan base in league 2

Should have gone in at half time well behind but you takes your chances add they say... Luke plays five or six shocking long balls a game but if one comes off per match like today then all is forgiven...
Only sadness was Jones getting a shocker of a pass late on from Carr for a fairy tale goal

Jodi was choked he couldn't finish that off. He's desperate for game time but knows he has to get goals to stay in the teamLcbdagger wrote:Should have gone in at half time well behind but you takes your chances add they say... We looked far better shape Second half when Like Howell played more Central . Come on Wayne Right backs are right backs Central Midfielders play in the Central posistions and potential good wingers get more then 5 minutes. You also keep clean sheets if you don't allow those you prefer in midfield to play silly buggers in and around your own penalty areas.
So let's see Luke back in the middle, young Jones given a game out wide on the wide pitch at Carlisle next week and the silly buggers practiceing their fancy tricks in less dangerous areas like the dug out. Football really is a simple game

I thought Jakubiak was excellent today when he came on and he should really get the nod next week. I'd quite like us to try and get him in the summer if Watford let him go. Only 18 so there is so much room to grow there.SUSSEX DAGGER wrote:We looked far better shape Second half when Like Howell played more Central . Jones is only 17 at the minute. He's got more game time than I anticipated a few months ago. Wayne is right not to rush him in. He gave him a good half hour against Wycombe and to be fair, he came up a little short which isn't surprising. He needs to be eased in and there is a ton of learning to be done. I'd happily give him 15-20 minutes each week and then maybe give him a start in our final home match against Accrington where there is little riding on the result.
On a different note, Boucard has been so much improved in the second half of the season. He's now looking very settled and him/Bingham have built a nice little partnership. Sadly I think Billy will be off in the summer. He'll do a very good job for a side at the top end of this league. I still think Luton.
Said on the way out how better we looked with an actual winger on the right rather than Luke. Not that I was slagging him off, would still have him in the side for sure. Personally not convinced by Boucard/Bingham as a partnership still, first half they were wrong side of the ball so often.

Billy and buacard Imo are a bit lightweight to play cm as a two but with a agogo or Howell in there I makes us look solid
We lost midfield 1st half yesterday as Billy and buacard sat deeper and deeper allowing there midfield far to much time on the ball.
Personally think we robbed them which is a new daggers feeling.

Yes, this was the match I watched. I thought we were very lucky and riding our luck, against the rub of play, going in at 1-0 at half time.stanton101 wrote:You are correct it was 1-0 to us, apologies for that. Whilst over the course of the game we deserved it as we took our chances, they didn't, but I think they will feel a little hard done by as they weren't that bad a team!
Great game and can now fully blood Jody Jones with the luxury of being safe before the end of the season!
Congratulations to Wayne and the team for turning it around.... I was convinced we were dead and buried sometime in January!!

Yep, agree with pretty much all of that. key moment was the great save by Cousins, that goes in and it could have been very different. Well done to the lads for finally killing a game off in style rather than leaving us biting our nails to the end. JC you are a star still.Masked Man wrote:Yes, this was the match I watched. Still not convinced by the management TBH, but fair do's the job has been done in the end. Now we are safe it is time to make some decisions on who is in charge next season and get all these player contracts that are up sorted one way or the other.

We were in quite a dangerous situation come half time, the downside of scoring early is youre under more pressure for longer. By two they were chasing the game and ultimately as they tried to salvage it JC exploited the gaps to finish it off. If Wimbledon would have equalised tbh I wouldve backed them to win but they really lacked an end product.
