Brilliant read and pretty much my thoughts exactly. I don't think the club can be much "bigger" due to the teams it's competing with for fans, and therefore revenue, but it's wasting a lot potential on other fronts in my opinion.

It's far from my specialist subject but I'm sure there could be massive strides made commercially. The bar idea behind the sieve/bury road end (my one wish!!). I can see the ground from my balcony, have a season ticket and do most of my eating and drinking in Dagenham (******** sad I know!!!) And I haven't got clue 1 about what goes on there outside of match days. But the bar is open every day. A bit of investment in the bar and Hall and it could be a good little money spinner. Tribute bands, quiz nights advertised outside of the actual bar itself or anything. There's industrial estates all around, maybe a decent lunch menu or decent pub grub? As I say this isn't my fortè but these are the sort of plans and ideas that would get my attention as we need to look outside of football revenue for every penny we can get.

Looking to get up to league one isn't something that sits well with me, get the club financially stable, look at other revenue streams, get some new fans through the turnstiles and some of the old ones who no longer go back and keep the team young, energetic and exciting (which also tends to be cheaper!!) And you'll have a successful club.

If daggers fans wanted to chase football league promotions and glory I reckon they'd probably be supporting someone else!!

Was saying some fairly reasonable stuff up until this. This is what I hate most about some of our fans- the lack of ambition. If you don't care about going up and glory (whatever that may be), then its you who needs to support someone else. But good luck finding a team that doesn't care about promotions and winning. This is a competitive club and we play competitive matches. What is the point of playing in a competitive league if you don't want to win every single game? Why do you even turn up to matches if you don't care about promotions or whatever? As that's what every match is aid of.

Tamplin is a breath of fresh air in this sense, someone who actually has ambition for the club apart from financial survival. Someone who isn't going to set targets of staying up at the start of the season. And if he can get us going where he wants us, and keep us financially sustainable then I'll be over the moon.

Gone off on a massive tangent and throwing a tantrum there I know, but I'm fed up of this no ambition and "I miss the old days of 6 fans and a dog" mentality that so many fans still have.

NBDag - my interpretation of the word "chase" was to mean "unsustainably pursue", which is what I totally agree with. I wholeheartedly agree with you in that we are in a competitive league and should therefore be looking to do as best as we possibly can (including promotions if realistic), but I would not want us to be "chasing" said promotions if that involves risking the clubs future.

The mistake you're making is thinking that people having different ambitions to you mean they have no ambition.

My ambition when it comes to football is to get to watch something enjoyable.
The level doesn't really bother me and nor does winning every game.

If when I started watching football I wanted to watch a team playing at the highest level I'd have gone to a club already at that level.

NB, I've kept out of the take over debate as I am too far away to have (nor should I) any impact in what transpires. However, that said, as a businessman if you think for one minute Mr. Tamplin is not interested in the financial viability of this club you are so incorrect. Successful businessmen do not become successful by investing in projected money losing propositions. I would be extremely surprised, despite his rhetoric, if Mr. Tamplin is not in this to make money which in the end, is a good thing. Not meant as an endorsement, but a statement of fact that having more money than not enough is a good thing.

As well, in order to do that, I doubt he will not set objectives at the beginning of each season one of which will be not to get relegated. That is like asking your team to go out and play each game but don't worry about losing................

I'm a bit confused as to why you're saying this- I haven't said he isn't looking to make money with us. Not even touched on the topic of him making money or whatever in the part you've quoted.
