Anyone remember that extremely windy and rainy day at Basingstoke - Jeff Woolsey scoring from our half? Shipp running over to celebrate with supporters and the supporters staying undercover in the stands instead.

Alan......what year / season was that? Obviously my most memorable memory of trips to Basingstoke town is the facup match where robbo scored. Two down at half time then battered them 2nd half. Lost count of how many shots and corners we had in that 2nd half. Pulled one back then when all looked lost up popped robbo to equalise in the dying seconds. A magic daggers moment!!!!!

30th October 1999 - it was the strongest wind I've seen a game go ahead in. Ludicrous, we were shooting from everywhere first half. Amazingly we managed to win the second half 1-0 with, I think, a Tim Cole header from a corner.

Anyone that has been around the Conference will realise that it is a massively hard league to get out of (at the right end).

Last season we got in the order of £720k from the Football League (includes the "Premier League Solidatity Payment"). This season that will be £470k as the solidarity payment isn't part of the parachute. Next season that halves, then its gone, unless we get back up.

At the same time, gates at the ground are down, both home and away fans. We have no FA Cup run this season (which netted us of the order of £250k in prize money, TV and income from away gates).

Of course we are going to have to sell at some point, we always have had to, it is actually how John Still works his miracles. Not only can't we stop bigger teams tapping our players up, but we need the money. Hopefully it will be controlled and not a fire sale, but to think we don't have to sell, even with investment, is very naive.
Think we will be back in the Football League . Ok next seasons Parachute payments half but is it not at the end of that season 8 teams are going up to form the 5th League of the Football League Structure ? thought that was a done deal

Don't think that the FL restructure is a done deal yet. They have binned the idea of "B" teams quite recently, and there isn't a method of levelling down to 20 teams per division sorted yet. What Championship club is going to accept 7 down one season, what League One team is going to accept no promotion?

To be "promoted" via an expansion would potentially mean us being top 8 the season after the parachute payment ends... you can bet that if one season effectively the top third get promotion everyone is going to chuck every penny at it.
