Banning orders

It seems its catching!

Apparently you can now be banned from the clubhouse for refusing to converse with a pissed up (shock) Managing Director.

Money of said banned person and his friends is also no longer wanted.

Well I tell you what, the club obviously isnt in the sh#t, the club obviously doesnt need as much dosh as it can get to survive, the club obviously doesnt really care for unity and for everyone to rally around for it. So I tell you what, perhaps they / he should get their wish and see how they like a boycott before and after the next game - with everyone drinking up in the Eastbrook.

Ungrateful toss pot!!

Is this some sort of fake news or did you experience this yourself yesterday evening? What happened?

I heard that Kim Jung issued a banning order to one of the flag bearers... What the hell is going on with my club?

Can anybody else shed some light on this episode?

Not fake news, I saw a brief conversation taking place but did not hear it. Then I saw the supporter leaving.
I was told almost after the event the jist of what was said but will not publish it until it is verified.

With story of the "fake email"energing this last week or so contributing to Glyn's resignation, we have to ve careful we dint get carried away without some sort of verification of said events and other events that will happen as and when. Banning a supporter for just having a flag is ridiculous. However any judgement on my part will be reserved until it all comes out (if it does).

I was there with 3 other Dagenham fans watching the 1st half of the Napoli vs Torino match upstairs in the clubhouse. We was talking about the club and team performances, no swearing no shouting nor was we disturbing anybody. Steve Thompson was talking to Paul Gwinn about 2 meters away from us, he kept looking over at us for sometime. At the stroke of half time steve Thompson came over and confronted one of the other Dagenham fans who I was talking with. Steve Thompson kept asking the fan the same question but kept getting the same reply “I’m not interested in talking to you steve” after 2 or 3 times of this being repeated steve Thompson asked the fan to leave. When the fan asked why, steve Thompson said you are banned. The fan asked can he have his ban in writing please and steve Thompson told him “no, I don’t have to” when the fan told steve Thompson that he has paid to be here, he was told “I don’t want your money” the fan replied that others would not want to come here if this is the way they will be treated. Steve Thompson said “I don’t want yours or your friends money”. At this point it had caused a scene in the clubhouse as other fans saw and herd what happened. Myself and 2 of the other 3 fans left the club house straight away, I believe the other stayed to finish his drink.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion on this, but ther was a fair few fans that saw this happen. If fans are able to draw a line under differences between themselves and differences between the club in the spirit of let’s get behind the team. It just seems abit unnecessary that a fan is banned for not wanting to have a conversation and then being told “I don’t want your money”

ST's behaviour makes no sense guven the club needs all the support it can get. Based on this, he must go for the decency of the club.
Fans have been accused by Glyn to ruin his and the clubs reputation but I'm afraid this works both ways. Steve Thompson must go.....

I agree. Steve Thompson MBE must go now more than ever.

An M.D. cannot be seen acting like this especially in the clubs current situation.

I’m sure people will continue to defend Steve Thompson MBE though.

I'll defend him from the point of view that I think now would be the absolute worst time for him to leave because (unfortunately) he knows everything there is to know about this football. I won't defend some of his actions, though. In our current situation, it's not rocket science to work out that the whomever would replace Steve would have an almost impossible task.

That's not how it should be, of course. It's as a result of Thommo having too much control/power/say over things or however you want to phrase it. One thing that Tamplin did get right when he was looking at us is that Thommo does do too much. If you've got one man effectively running an organisation and doing everything within it that can't be healthy. I honestly believe that he does always attempt to do what he thinks is best for the club (banning supporters aside, which is out of order). But the problem with that is, is that - in my opinion - more recently what he perceives to be the right decisions end up being the wrong ones and often to the detriment of the football club.

But where we are at the moment it would be madness for him to go. Again, not how it should be in an ideal world, but it's as a result of the situation we're in and the knowledge that he is. It's shit - and some of his actions, in particular banning the above mentioned supporter, are undefendable.

It's very catch-22 but at the moment I think that wanting him to leave in the short term is a very big mistake.

^ This is completely right. Like him or loathe him, the club needs stability in the board right now. Then hope that if a buyer is found, that they do what Tamplin intended on doing and turn Thommo into a number two. Not a number 1 (2, 3 and 4). His heart is in the right place when it comes to this club, but that does not mean that every decision he makes is what is best.

I think Steve Thompson MBE (must continue full title as he has clearly earnt it) has FOUND HIMSELF BY ACCIDENT IN A SITUATION where he is in full power as I believe him to be a control freak. I could be totally wrong however. EDITED I think he likes and want to be number 1,2,3 and 4, but it’s not healthy for the club.

What was the question?

I’m sorry, I just can’t defend that person.
I’m sure someone straight out of a business course could do a fairly good job on a fraction of the wage we pay Thommo

I understand the argument of keeping him for the time being but I agree with the above post and I cant defend him either. The club needs to change throughout and starting at the top. Only then can we move forward once all problems are resolved
