Have the club tweeted the link? Posted it across Facebook?
Is the fund mentioned on the club website?
Are the club doing all they can to promote this?
If not, why not?

One of the Dagenham Instagram pages did mention it yesterday, can’t remember if it was the official or fan run account though. But yes, more needs to be done to promote it. Need to remember that most of our fans aren’t probably on Twitter and Facebook, so there needs to be an offline effort too. Not sure how it could be done, but it would be great if we could arrange a leaflet to be produced for the next home game and just hand it out at the entrances.

I think there are a couple of problems with this approach. Let me preface this by saying I'm NOT suggesting this is a bad idea, or that it doesn't have legs, I applaud those individuals who have gone to the effort of setting it up, I'm just playing devil's advocate for a moment and offering some advice.

I think firstly, there's a general fatigue element with crowdfunding at the moment. More directly related to 'product' backing, but definitely a malaise that could affect the ability to raise money this way.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, for many outside of the core fan-base to back this, there probably needs to be some sense that the club is involved with it. It lends credence to what appears to be a campaign run by anonymous individuals. The club may not want to be involved; it's been intimated elsewhere that Steve Thompson didn't want to endorse fans raising money for the club in case it went under - that shouldn't be underestimated either as I'd imagine once it's handed over to them it would get swallowed up in allocations to creditors. I appreciate that the Supporters' Club are endorsing it, but again, from the outside, who are they, and how can they be contacted - is there one individual handling enquiries specifically related to the crowdfunding, for example?

Thirdly, where is the money going? What's the plan for delivering it to the club? How will it get used? And other questions. People want to know what exactly will happen to their hard-earned, and I know this sounds glib (intentionally) but some would want to know, for example, that it will be spent on saving the club and not renewing the Sky Sports license in the bar. Obviously no guarantees can be made, but it's a salient point for some.

I think more could be made of the banner image (I'm happy to help with that if someone wants to PM me) but similarly, there probably needs to be care taken with using the club crest - any attempt to make this appear official when it isn't could be equally troublesome as not having them involved at all.

So, please don't take this as being overly critical - I want to help, and these were just my thoughts.

daggerfirst,daggersjeff & NBDag

daggerfirst we are getting in touch with the club and asking them to help promote this fund raiser on their website etc. so we have to wait and see what their response is.

daggersjeff local press it might be worth making an enquiry.

NBdag a fan set this up and endorsed by and run in conjunction with Dagenham & Redbridge Supporters Club.

Leaflets yes a good idea but the club would have to agree for them to be handed out at the ground so lets see what they say about helping out first and as for social media you all can help by sharing this fund raiser.

triplescarf I see what you are saying

To answer a couple of your questions hopefully everyone knows where the supporters club shop is so they pop in there and speak to Russell on match day`s plus anyone can contact him by phone 07989901686 we are getting in touch with the club about a couple of things also I`m on here so I will answer any questions if possible or will try and find out and I`ll get in touch with said person about the banner.

Daggernewbie - that's sort of what I was saying - I don't think everybody does know where the shop is, or who Russell is, or his number etc. I think that's exactly the sort of information that needs to be made publicly available on the crowdfunding page for it to encourage a wider set of donors.

OK I`ll have a word with the person who set it up.

The money will be used to plug the gap in overspending to avoid us going under.

Sorry, I'll clarify. I know that, as a fan, but with any campaign like this it needs donors from a wider pool than just the core fan group for it to make a difference, so I'm just making the point that there probably needs to be a little more detail on the crowdfunding page if those people are to be captured. All of us here on the forum probably know the state of things, but we're not the people who need to be convinced the most.

I am genuinely happy to re-write, and/or edit the page however people see fit and how they think may attract the best response.

Also, triple scarf, would you be able to help with the banner? I knocked that one up pretty quickly using Paint but again - happy to change it .....

Send us a PM with it all and I'll update the page.

BTW - we're up to £400 and it's been live for just under a week.

In addition to general donations, it would be good if at least 1 event can be hosted with the proceeds going to the fund.

Any suggestions for original ideas / events that can be held would all be appreciated.

I'd originally looked into the idea of a Legends/Current Squad match but it really doesn't look like it's a goer, unfortunately.

Are the supporters club running a end of season presentation? Could do that with all ticket sales to the fund?
