I'm firmly in the "he can bugger off camp"

He should pay the next two months wages (as HE committed to do last year) then walk away from the club.

If he is able to recover some of his outlay by means of another investor coming, in then great and so be it.

But I'd preferably like us to go back to living well within our means and having a club we can be proud of, rather than some nob jockey's toy who has the ability to walk away and leave us on our knees at the 1st sign of trouble and unrest.
Hard to disagree with that sentiment

And what's to say what he has done already wont be repeated again. His actions have caused more problems than there worth.
Lets move forward

He has invested in this club for 25 years. You blame him and can’t forgive him but you don’t blame the people with the flags or the board members that didn’t secure that investment in writing.

Glyn still owes 38% of the shares. I hear on the grapevine that there is the slightest of slight chances that he possibly may be rethinking his decision. How true that is I don’t know. But you have to open your heart and mind to the fact it is unlikely he will be gone from this club forever, the Glyn Hopkin advertising/sponsorship will hopefully be back and he will be involved in some capacity.

People posting that they don’t want him back and they can never forgive him, when it wasn’t entirely his fault, are being short-sighted, particularly when the future of the club hangs in the balance and we might be calling on him to continue paying the wages and seeing us through.

Who knows, he could still be reading this forum or the Facebook page and base his decision on what he reads.
If the club somehow survives, it would be a kick in the bollox if in two years time he’s welcomed back for more sponsorship deals.

After what he’s done, I find it incredible that you are still pining for him. Are you not angry? Instead you seem angry at the 50 on this forum. He’s all but killed your club. You should hate him if the club has plagued its last home game.

If it was Tamplin, you’d have hated him. But because it’s someone who you were friendly with, texting etc, you’re happy to blame other people. He’s done exactly what you feared Tamplin would have done.

I too am in the ‘bugger off’ Hopkins camp.

Let's be clear, the fault lies with the people who engineered the change from a Members Club
Plenty predicted what the outcome would be.
It just turned out to be a different owner who let the club down

The way I see it, if Mr Hopkin wants to come back and start again in terms of investment, then I’d rather that than not have a club.
What has changed since he went? The team and club have rallied well to 1. Take it to the wire for the playoffs and 2. Keep the club going with the selling of players and the WHU friendly. Last game of the season we saw an atmosphere that we had been missing for months. The flags have also gone and culprits banned I believe. However I’m not buying the flags excuse for Mr Hopkin pulling out but it has happened.
Now if he was to return, then he would need to man up a bit. I spoke to him a number of times and had him down as a decent chap but if he can’t handle behaviour from a subsection of the support and gets upset when reading social media then I’m not sure how he’s gone so far in his business life. His inability to handle a sub section of the support which I’m sorry Glynn, you will get at every club has put a lot of uncertainty into peoples lives. If that’s the case he should stay away. I don’t want him throwing his toys out of the pram when god forbid it, someone sings a song in the Sieve that he doesn’t like.
It’s all a shame because improvements were being made and on the pitch I believe we would have been right up there at the business end of the season staring Football League in the face.
We have to look forward. A lot of supporters at the club support the football team, after all that’s the business we’re in and don’t understand/care or even be aware of the politics in the boardroom or the behaviour of some of our fans. If Mr Hopkin wanted to start again I wouldn’t be adverse but at the same time extremely worried about this situation happening again down the line. We nearly lost our club this season and although I think we’ll be ok, it’s put us in a precarious position. Nobody here wants to be in this situation again.
In terms of paying the wages for the last month. Glynn, no sympathy will be afforded to you for that from me. You promised John the world and that budget. It’s only right you should be footing it and that should have been done all season. Had you of done, we may have been celebrating last week.

Regarding the original post, I have always had a lot of time for Gerry, but I have to say it was a massive mistake resigning as he did. Surely better to stay and fight from within the board with some degree of influence, than leave as he did and have little or none. He could still have campaigned for his side of the argument publicly but an extra voice of caution on the board might have made a difference.

As for Glyn Hopkin, he is the source of the current money issues as he set the budget based on injecting a load of money then pulled his funding mid-season whatever he says denying that. If he did return and save us, great, but we need to be run on a sustainable basis going forward whatever else as has been graphically demonstrated.

We have survived off our income, sponsorship and donations/loans to fill holes here and there for many years. If Mr Hopkin was to be the one making those occasional donations and loans, I wouldn't have an issue with that.

I don't think we can be particularly choosy. This guy obviously cared about the club for many years. I don't buy all the flag shit akthough you could see how it would get on his ( and everyone else's ) nerves. But anyone who comes in will have to put up with people sniping and moaning and all the other pointless crap that seems to go on. I'd welcome him back but in the long run I don't think he's got the stomach for all the bullshit that goes with it.

No clue what is happening sadly.

I've tried to be consistent and straight all the way through the last couple of years of serial disasters. That hasn't changed as far as I am aware.

Seems all the usual people are quite. Odd as no one can usually fart at the club without it being on here.

Given there is a 98 post and counting thread entitled "The Silence" just down the forum, I don't think that is entirely true though is it. I would guess no news means no news. The quiet is just a lack of people moaning about the quiet in the last week or so.

Time is passing though and we need to know where we are before the National League AGM (early June??)

Meanwhile, there is an estimated £18.4m jackpot on the lottery tonight. I'd suggest a few lucky dips.
