That just wasn't said though was it. It was suggested that Darren Currie would be asked, but no one was sure he'd want it. John Still said that if the position was advertised we'd get a load of applicants whatever the financial position.

I was there, I saw you necking off with one of your boyfriends DTP at the bar.
I'm talking about the way they were talking about us being completely skint. Makes no sense making lots of people redundant only to employ someone on a wage when we have no money, lets hope they don't do that to the hard working staff.

Its a football club, we need a manager.
Do we need loads of full time specialist coaches etc. Possibly not.

And we aren't completely skint, just can't afford to keep going as we are, hence cutting costs where we can.
You should have dragged your knuckles over and said hi.

Barnet fans seem hopeful Currie will be joining Still at Barnet.
With the finances Darren will probably rather go to Barnet as a number 2 with certain wages than stay here with the risk of not being paid.
Not keen on the idea of Junior Lewis taking over, seems very uninspiring. So if Currie is to leave would prefer Hyde to take over rather than Lewis.
Outside of the club currently do people think there is going to be much interest in a club with no money, no academy and half a squad expecting to compete?

Would be surprised if there wasn't a very long list of people wanting it. Nobody has not been paid, the club is still highly though of in football circles for our level, and I would argue it is still the biggest non league club in Essex/East London.
I would think there will be lots of progressive forward thinking and ambitious managers at Step 2-4 who would fancy it, as well as some who have been at this level or higher and need another chance/break.
Remember a certain Mr Hill?? Relatively unknown but was doing decent job at equivalent of what is now Step 3 when we took him?? The rest is history. Am sure there are equivalents out there, just need a process to find them.
This idea that only John Still can ever manage our club with success needs to be ended. Burnett didn't work out, but Hardy and Hill did brilliant jobs in past eras and others will do in the future.

Who has ever expressed the idea that only John Still can manage our club with success?
We need to find someone - I hope it is someone that can replicate the likes of Hardy, Hill and Still in building a squad of players that have a bit of spirit.
I hope we don't get another tippy tappy merchant.

Chris Kinnear Dover manager, part time currently teaches in East London. MIght be worth a go, does a great job at Dover with high turnover of players.

Always thought Kinnear would manage us at some time with his connections in the area and his non league pedigree.
The only issue at the moment with him, and potentially someone like Devonshire, is whether a full time manager is needed at this stage??

His current job must be fairly flexible given the schedule he has with Dover.

A fascinating read which resonated
He details how almost half the 55 applicants for a lower league job had offered to work for nothing just for a chance to get back into the game

The club aren’t looking to take on someone from the outside as manager, they have 2 coaches contracted until next summer, so either Currie or Lewis becoming Manager is the number one target for the club. Currie is in Singapore at the moment so the discussion hasn’t been had, but general feeling is that he would jump at the chance.

There's no doubt whoever takes on the Manager's job is going to have a tough time with our low resources and to follow in Still's making, bringing in young lads who want to be grab an opportunity to get up the ranks. he was very good at that, somehow think it will waiver towards Hill though. me personally must admit would enjoy seeing what Chris Kinnear could do for us and heard down there more than once he had heart in the daggers in his youth, our board have a month or two for deep thinking just hope its someone who is really up for it and a good vibrant age and for that probably suspect someone in step 2 or 3 at the moment and would love the challenge.
