Yep, spotted that. I guess PT is giving everyone a chance to try and play for a new contract. Otherwise why do this!

Dreadful today. Lads had no motivation and it showed. Oh well

Couldn’t make it today, which is a shame as it’s closer to home than a home game, but of those fringe players couldn’t motivate themselves in the face of giving a chance to prove themselves that shows why they’re not starting games.

Today's game probably made PT's mind up on those he'll release. Looks like alot of today's eleven will be gone

Hard to tell if it was a squad severely lacking in quality, interest or both... whether they played with freedom or not that was still opposition that are already relegated and will be playing in a lower division next season.

No real decent performances at our end... very much struggle to see many who stay next season... very little Moore in goal could do about the second in particular.

At least Phipps got a game, up front for 30 mins in the second half. Taylor is a clown you all deserve him.

We all know at least 8-9 are not good enough to be playing here next season so why not start those that will? Bonds recalled but only to get 15 mins at the end, what’s the point?

370 Daggers bothered with it today and Taylor wonders why fans dislike him. At least leave 5 decent players on the bench to bring on, we knew this lot Weren't good enough 7 months ago so why ******** bother with them now? Negative Clown.

Yes I can accept if we were trying something new as a trial for next year, but Blanchfield, Davey, Goodliffe, Bellamy, and Hoyte probably won’t be here then. So what’s the point? What’s worse is that Loft and Wright will start on Saturday and you can bet your savings that we will offer them contracts this summer, both clearly devoid of any use.

Apart from the fact that Taylor clearly stated what team would be playing today Nunn, Hoyte, Phipps, Adeloye, Gordon, Goodliffe, Munns, McQueen, Kandi all played. At various times on here people have been begging for them to play.
Davey is coming back from a bad injury and needs games, Bonds probably isn't ready but any game time is good
Of course we expect the usual suspects to come out moaning

This.

I was there and there's no getting away from it , it was awful. But PT did say he was going to rest players (and whether you agree with that or not he gave us the heads up).

Cult hero Adeloye couldn't trap a bag of cement and McQueen who I generally like looked like a guy bereft of playing time and was pretty abject throughout and should have been hauled off. I actually thought Davey did okay, inasmuch he won most stuff in the air.

At least we all got a sun tan!

I was bored stiff. £17 for that, what a waste. I wouldn’t keep any of them that played today. If we are deadly serious about going up next season we won’t see any of these donkeys playing again.
Highlight of the day was Braintree’s second goal.

The fact that we're 45 games into a 46-game season and Taylor is still determining whether certain players are good enough to be offered a contract is alarming. Even if certain players would've performed well against a dreadful team that have been long gone since about September, all it proves is that they are just about better than a bunch of part-timers who will be sixth-tier next year, which is hardly the calibre of player we're wanting. When you consider that contracts were at stake so the need to impress Peter Taylor was high, to perform like that was ridiculous. The worst thing was that, with Munns, McQueen, Phipps, Gordon etc all playing - most of which should've been in a lot more lineups since the turn of the year - we had more than enough quality to beat Braintree.

Seemed like we wanted to get the game out of the way, which is a shame as our support was brilliant and it was a chance to impress in the glorious sunshine.

Do you seriously think the Manager was using this game to decide one way or another on contracts. Those decisions are made a while ago unless in the unlikely event with one last chance a player could suddenly turn that decision upside down.
Perhaps after a long hard season it's a chance to give some players who have been training hard all year without much game time a well earned run out.
Todays game would very unlikely prove anything about anyone ultimately good or bad. It was a meaningless match on a bouncy pitch played in unseasonal heat so don't worry about the calibre of players you might see next year. Today was not a portent of next season
