Football League Clubs vote to look at the view of introducing plastic pitches from next season.
Talked about this on here before and it looks like a juganult that is not going to be stopped.
Got to be a good investment for the Club. Training cost must be high and injuries that the surface has caused our players over the past few season added in surely no brainier once the green light is given.

i hated playing on plastic pitches and wont be alone there.

...... you mean we have guaranteed football when there is three feet of snow outside. The home fans won't bother, the away fans won't be able to get there, the game will be delayed a couple of hours as the away team is held up in traffic and the the club will spend huge money making the terraces and access and egress safe...... but at least we will get the money from a crowd of 700. No thanks

And after today I would have got more enjoyment from watching grass grow and that pleasure will be denied me.

fake pitch will not guarentee football half the time its not the pitch that gets the game called off when it snows.

Agreed... a snowy day usually leads to traffic issues and games called off due to access and safety issues around the ground... a new pitch will do nothing for our car park during winter! Don't think teams at our level are much worried about losing game to snow that occurs once in every full moon on a Pancake Tuesday.
If we go for it we immediatly have a training complex 100% better then what we have at the moment. This will then perhaps enable any record signings to appear more often then 5 minutes every six weeks.
Our Academy can use it for training and matches saving a fortune on training hire costs and I dare say that help with the cost will be met by sone sort of asset in the community programme.

About £400k a 3G pitch costs to the standard that would be required, this is without the added extras like extra drainage and year round maintenance.
Would defo consider not going if this happened.We dont have enough games off to warrant this,cant even remember the last game we had called off cos of the pitch.Non league teams fair enough,revenue streams etc.But when ya get to the football league holy grail we have to stay on grass.Can you imagine what cloughie would have said!And while we're at it thanks and congrats to Ian and his team for the last few years for a a fantastic pitch.Artificial,no tar.

It slows the ball right down. Even managed to help Andorra snatch a draw against Wales, that pitch even made Bale look like he could not pass or control the ball.
