England U21s

Very disappointing end to the UEFA U21s tournament for England last night. They played OK according to the stats but ac tually were outclassed from the point Ings missed a sitter early on.

So what next? IMHO no point changing the manager, its the lack of talent that is the problem. With the exception of a couple, the team is made up almost entirely of players that are fringe at Premier League clubs or playing in the Championship.

Meanwhile, at Arsenal, they have made 4 signings to the Academy this summer so far, one Romanian, one Cypriot, two French, while releasing a load of kids (mostly English) that they have had and developed since they were 9 or 10. This is on top of the high profile signing of 17 year old Pole Krystian Bielik for a reported deal worth £2.7m in January, which has resulted in at least one highly rated, and very professional English kid of the same age being pushed out of position and looking to move on.

So do we just accept that this is how football at the top level works or does someone try to improve the chances of English boys coming through the ranks to actually play at the top of the game?
