I'm sure some of you will have seen and perhaps been properly excited by the penalty shoot-outs first between the Germans and the Dutch and then our lot and the Dutch.

Could something similar (instead of plain penaties from the penalty mark) be implemented to make for a better spectacle at the end of a tied game (whether or not there has been extra time) where there has to be a winner? If so, what would you suggest?

The closes thing to the hockey competitionn would be to give the forwards 12 or 15 seconds and the ball starting on the closest edge of the centre circle.

Any one else have a liking for such an idea over and above what we've got?

And - by the way - well done to all the British Olympians for making us proud. Well done

Pretty sure something was done in the US years a go (pre MLS) where end of game penalties were with the player dribbling from the half way line first. It was awful.
