So the taxpayer is now being asked to pay more for West Ham to have police in the ground? Shouldn't the club pay for this?

Mess!

I have a confession to make - I went to see a game at the new stadium in the Europa League. It was a typical West Ham game - they lost!
But what struck me was the vast number of people employed to ensure the safety of everyone. Of course 54,000 is a lot more than the 1,200 we get, but the number of safety stewards, police, guides, police horses was just astonishing - every 50 metres there were groups of 20 of them just milling about - there must have been thousands and that was just outside the ground. I appreciate the need for safety, but who does pay for that?

(two small bottles of water, and 2 Diet Cokes - £10.80 ..... never again)
(that was my second Europa League game of the season, and at £10 a ticket the price was not too bad .... except vastly more than the 80pence I paid to see Torpedo Zhodino v Rapid Wien, which in turn was double the 40pence I paid the following day for the Belarussian Premier League game Slutsk v Slavia Mozyr)
