Just to clarify this, Jordan Seabright gets lobbed from 30 yards by Jamie Cureton and we are all clamouring for him over Lewington? I don't remember being particularly enamoured with the two goals he conceded at Southend in the JPT either. Lewington has saved 2 penalties and kept us in games at times this season, but on the back of 2 mistakes (the other being the howler at Mansfield) we should drop him and replace him with an inexperienced 18 year old kid?
Talk about kneejerk...
Argh!
"Lewington only making two mistakes", well I must have been seeing things that didn't occur! Seabright may be inexperienced, but he wont be gaining too much sitting on the bench. I do not deny Lewington has made a number of fine saves this season (that is what he is paid to do) but too inconsistant by far this season.OBD wrote:Just to clarify this, Jordan Seabright gets lobbed from 30 yards by Jamie Cureton and we are all clamouring for him over Lewington? The main problem, as with many keepers (Robbo at MK Dons springs to mind), Lewi doesn't make many mistakes in games we are two or three nil up in (I appreciate we don't have many)... he tends to have a mare when we are one up late on in a game or when we are holding on for a point... as a result his errors will be picked up and scrutinised as they often lose us points.
For what it's worth, our inability to deal with crosses in the box or set pieces will froever lose us more points than any goalkeeper would, even if we brought dave Hogan back and gave him a run in the first team!

We have a perfectly good stand in keeper in Jordan seabright.Where will he get any experience otherwise ? If you cant play the No2 keeper then get another keeper.Get a loan get someone who can kick the ball, save it and not throw it in his own goal in the 96th minute. This season be fair to Burnett,he's created competition in all positions, this does bring the best out of those that want to keep their place.Seabright should play tonight.
Bollix to Shampoo, it's real poo we want !

Jeez, you don't half spout a load of old crap.
If your want a keeper that doesn't make the occassional mistake and kicks perfectly then you're going to have to watch some football at a higher level than League 2. There's a reason they're at this level. Goalkeepers don't make mistakes because they think their place is safe.
There's hardly any completion for places in our team, apart from the heap of wingers we've had.

I've agreed with all you've said on this thread about Lewy but we do have competition everywhere other than RB this seasonDaggers No 2 Fan wrote:Jeez, you don't half spout a load of old crap.

3 centre backs for 2 positions isn't much competition.Richie wrote:I've agreed with all you've said on this thread about Lewy but we do have competition everywhere other than RB this seasonDaggers No 2 Fan wrote:Jeez, you don't half spout a load of old crap.

We have 4 central midfielders contracted and tend to play 3 - that isn't much competition. Especially as one those 4 is injured more than he isn't.
There hasn't really been much completion to Murphy for most of the season. A bit more recently, but with loan players that aren't likely to be around for long.
Dno2....Its competition not completion.
So according to you then we have to have a calamity keeper because the standard you expect is low ????
He cant kick,he has some positioning issues,he punches the ball when he should catch it and he throws the ball in his own goal on occasions.Give him a few weeks on the bench, wont kill him and will give the other guy a bit more experience.Saah made a couple of dodgy pass backs in a game recently and did his time on the bench for it.Same with Medy,Femi even Hines. Why not Lewy then ?

Most importantly Medy as a few of us started to think he had photos of the manager stored away on his start of season form... certainly came back better after a breakARNU wrote:Dno2....Its competition not completion.
