Back in June this year, I had the privilege of taking on the role of District Commissioner for Barking & Dagenham District Scouts. Scouting has been part of my life since I was 7 years old and has never stopped.

3 months before I took on that role, our District suffered something a terrible tragedy.
One of our Explorer Scouts, Jodie Chesney was stabbed in the back and died while out with friends. She was 17 years old and had her whole life in front of her.

Some of our volunteers had to help her friends deal with a terrible loss - they dealt with something that they should never have had to fantastically, and continue to do so still.

In Jodie's memory they've set up a project (#ForJodie) to raise money to provide free first aid training and equipment within the local community. It could help save a life in the future.
Their first event will be a sponsored walk starting close to where Jodie started her Scouting life and finishing near our District HQ where she attended Explorers.

If you can spare something to help them towards their goal, it could help make a real difference.
They have a fundraising page here:

Just for clarity, this isn't part of the Jodie Chesney Foundation set up by her family but they are working together in Jodies memory for some of what they're both looking to do.
