Labadie did little last night but that was his first game back after injury. Having seen him play against us a few times over the years, I was delighted when we signed him and I think he'll go on to be an asset. However, I'd have him as the man behind the striker rather than in a midfield 2 so he may have a fight on his hands with Chambers for that position. Chambers needs to either play between the lines or up front though. He's not a wide man for me. His menace comes from running at defenders or trying to stretch them in behind. I don't think he's quick enough moving the ball from foot to foot to be effective out wide.Diggerthedog wrote:For sure hope he proves me wrong, perhaps it was nerves or something last night.Diggerthedog wrote:Labadie should be no where near our team, he offers nothing*. .............Cousins
Partridge, Doe, Saah, Connors

Porter, Chambers, Hemmings
...........Cureton
*My opinion.
Still, it's interesting. We have quite a lot of options, we just need to choose the right ones. For me, Porter and Hemmings secured themselves in the wide spots last night. Either Boucard or Howell will play alongside Ogogo. Labadie or Chambers will play in the hole.
Cureton will continue to lead the line and I imagine will do a bit of rotating when Murphy as the latter is trying to get his match sharpness back. Eventually, I can see Murphy starting more games with Cureton getting the 20-30 minutes at the end of games. At the same time, it's good competition for both strikers as they know they need to keep hitting the net or else they have another goalscorer right behind them in the pecking order. If we manage to sign Doidge as well, then we have a fantastic 4-4-2 option as well as the obvious tactic of having him up front by himself.
