Not much chat on here for yet another poor display, fortunately Barrow never took many chances and Player of the season Justham made an absolute worldie of a save to keep us at 0-0 at half time.
Second half we went to a back four but took Nunn off (he is not a wing back but a very good right back) and played Wright there, strange. Munns gets hooked again due to the manger trying to shoehorn very defensive players into the side.
What a way to win over all the new faces, see you in a years time!
Barrow
Whatever your thoughts about the Manager, both regarding this season and next, I don't think you could explain away the defensive set up of our starting XIs or the substitutions without argument, however persuasive you wereDiggerthedog wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 8:27 am Not much chat on here for yet another poor display, fortunately Barrow never took many chances and Player of the season Justham made an absolute worldie of a save to keep us at 0-0 at half time.

Really was a poor display from both sides. Nunn once again was having a mare, so it’s hard to argue him going off. Somehow Wrighty didn’t seem too out of place at right back either. But Munns off for Robinson was baffling. Even more so when you take into account the fact that Loft is absolutely dreadful.
I know i’ll still go to the remaining matches, but it’s hard to find any enjoyment in watching this team right now.

Yesterday was the first time I've been to a game for a while, and I won't be rushing back based on that.
It was so negative and so dull. It's says a lot that the only real highlight was the linesman getting flattened.
3-5-2/5-3-2 just does not work with the players we had out there.
Nunn isn't a wing back and it's been obvious hat he struggles there for ages.
Smith is poor. Onariase was also pretty poor yesterday.
Half time subs didn't really make much sense. Nunn doesn't need to go off to switch to a back four, but in fairness Wright did ok there.
Kandi playing on the right while McQueen sits in the bench makes no sense.

Thought we were totally outplayed first half but at least he changed to a better shape second half. Wright did ok at right back even though it was an odd switch on paper. Nunny is struggling very badly.
No idea what he sees in Loft. He perked up a bit second half but still largely bypassed. He seems to have no engine, and just stops when he loses the ball. Could have left Munns in the middle with Robinson.
Wilko clearly not fit but I guess we are desperate for a goal.
Couldn't find anyone I thought played well enough to get man of the match, thought it was baffling to give it to Clark though. Maybe Justham as he's the only one who did he job properly.

I have nothing positive to say other than we are pretty much safe. I just hope scraping enough points is the only reason Taylor has been setting us up as he has for the past 2-3 months as it has been up there with the worst football I have ever had to watch from a Daggers side.
What really upset me yesterday was that once again we bypassed the chance to get some new supporters. I've been really pushing this game at my school and had managed to hand out about 20 comps and had 40 children enter the club's poster competition meaning they got a free voucher for two tickets. I wasn't expecting to see around 100 people from my school there as I knew several wouldn't turn up for whatever reason. However, I was pleasantly surprised to bump in to around 10 children from my school with their parents and saw 5-6 others standing with parents from a distance. Why would they want to come back after watching that yesterday? A back 5 with two holding midfielders dropping off at home to mid table Barrow. Ridiculous.
He's got us safe but there's only so much credit I'm giving Taylor as we're only safe because the new owners came in, allowed us to bring in a few new faces of better quality and we hit a honeymoon period for 6-8 weeks. Beyond that, we've been dire this season. The stats say it all. 25 points in them 10 games. 23 points in the other 31. There is no way we are achieving anything next year with this manager. He's a dinosaur.

The manager and Jack Munns surely must not see eye to eye on a personal basis... there is no other explanation for the constant victimisation, being hooked when there are normally 9/10 players performing a lot worse and being omitted from starting XI’s when in the game before he was the best player on the pitch, bewildering really when you think how much we are lacking in the final 3rd of the pitch.
Whatever happened to the days of that unbeaten run & where we would line up with a front 5 of...
Phipps,Munns,Mcqueen behind Balanta & Wilkinson
Rather than a line up now with a defensive minded player shoed in every position barring centre forward

Poor game. Even poorer No food on the way in (2.50pm) Ran out of Chips at half time. I bet we don't see many of the new faces again.
The way a lot of our players don't press the ball you have to wonder if it's part of the plan. I get the feeling that Taylor wants to keep shape at all costs, even if it means allowing the opposition an eternity on the ball. A lot of the sides who have turned us over recently have been far more aggressive.
I'm not convinced Balanta isn't also injured. He seems quite laboured and maybe like Wilko he's been pushed into service as a desperate attempt to get over the line. I guess we'll see if either are picked once we're mathematically safe.
You are right tho that the lack of pressing is irritating. I feel like we're constantly inviting pressure.

When Robinson was warming up at half time I was convinced it would be Loft going off as he was that bad! Second half he was marginally better but let’s face it he couldn’t have got worse, Elliot Justham has earned his corn recently with some fine reaction saves, if it wasn’t for him we would be down. Pains me to say I will keep going for the remaining games but if I didn’t have a season ticket I would be elsewhere.
Yesterday was dreadful. We sat off Barrow, who although are a decent footballing side, are only 8 points above us. That comes from the management ultimately. Like Gillingham fans warned us, watching a team under Taylor has proven to be tedious and boring on so many occasions this season.
The worrying thing is, the figurehead of the board at the moment, Steve Thompson, won’t even entertain listening to the viewpoint that fans want a new manager who is more positive. I get that we started the season with next to no budget and Taylor has kept us up, so of course you can see the logic of keeping him for another season. I’m genuinely worried for next season, as it’s clear we’ll be giving a good budget to a manager who in my opinion, has had his day in football management.
If only ST was as eager to criticise Taylor as he is to criticise our players, as he openly did yesterday.

Heard the ground is being named Jurassic Park, would fit in quite well with Taylor and Thompson at the wheel of the jeep. Two people who think they are exempt from criticism despite both being pathetic at their jobs.
Sure the yanks said they would employ some forward thinking commercial manager, not seen anything on this so far. Great having a new scoreboard and shiny seats but when you have a lack of ambition on and off the pitch hanging around like a bad smell you’ll only get so far.
Problem with the yanks is they’re going on the word of a select few, surely they want more from their bucks than a team the just defends and hopes to win 1-0 every week. Long standing supporters are voting with their feet with the negative tripe served up by Taylor but I doubt they are being told this.
We should be ending the season on a high with the squad we have but instead we’re going down with a whimper, could easily end the season winless in 9 games and it will be considered a success. Pathetic.

Highlight of the game for me was the new scoreboard managing to keep time past the hour mark!!

I see our website shows its continued professionalism:-
DaggersTV caught up with manager Peter Taylor after this afternoon's match against Barrow AFC to get his reaction from today's 1-1 draw with The Blackbirds
I left at the final whistle......who scored for us??
