I note from from his interview that he hopes to be fit by sometime in October/November. I sincerely hope that we have not got another Zavon Hines situation here, whereby he was never fit enough to play for us again and we ended paying up the contract. In particular l note the club have given George a two-year contract. This only emphasises the need to ensure we bring in more seasoned pro’s to the club, who have plenty of experience. In particular when our other main winger Myles Weston can only surely play as a ‘bit part’ player in the squad. Let’s hope McMahon knows what he is doing ………….

Really glad to see he is on the mend and appreciate that we don't know the finances offered around the new contract... could be 'pay as you play' elements in there somewhere.

He's a player I can't help but feel however doesn't fit in to a team playing a back three... Not strong enough defensively to play a 'wing back' position and not sure he is good enough to displace a striker in the front two or fit in the middle beyond the strikers in a 3 man midfield. Would play better as an attacking winger in a team playing a more traditional 451 or 442 formation

Agree with both ! Don't think a 2 year for a young kid from Hornchurch coming back form injury is going to kill the bank balance. And also 100% agree he doesn't fit in to a 352 at all - hopefully when he's back it might jog Daryl in to playing 433 again in the second half on next season

It’s only a 1 year with an option, we don’t have to take up that option and can release him if he does not make the grade of which jury is out for me. We have him unfit, Phipps can’t keep fit and the new guy who is injury prone according to his stats and Wealdstone fans. Hopefully the next few signings are not so injury prone, I don’t want to hear the manager moaning about budgets regardless how much these guys costs it’s still a decent wage as they need to live in an expensive area with costs rising.

I don’t think Saunders is a natural wingback, but he was showing some real progress last season until his injury. However the fact that he is more of an out and out winger, is why I want to keep him around. We need to have something different so we can play different shapes. Countless times last season he came off the bench and made an impact on the game with his direct play. We really need that

I have no idea why we've given him an extension regardless of how cheap he may or may not be. He's injured and wasn't contributing much before that. He doesn't fit our system at all.

I believe it's called Plan B.

I never knew we had a plan A, let alone a plan B.

If we switch shape to 433 or 442 then maybe but I've never seen Daryl do much other than put Saunders at wing back which leaves us wide open. It isn't like he's been providing scintillating attacking play on those occasions either. How many games will he get this season, 5?
