Pretty detailed injury update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7S5xXF-0uLw

Angelo sounds like he'll be out for ages - I'll be surprised if we see him that much at all.

Harry Phipps sounds like he continues to be extremely injury prone.

The others sound reasonably encouraging.

Balanta's body clearly can't stand up to the physical rigour and intensity of football anymore. This is the third serious injury he's had since the start of last season.

Despite him not really suiting our system anymore, I like him and even in his most unproductive season for us just gone he still managed a respectable goal average, producing moments that nobody else in the squad would be capable of. He's undeniably a talented player however this isn't really about his ability at all.

He's done at this club as we simply can't depend upon him. Despite him always missing a third of the season on average, we decided to hand out a long contract, the majority of its remainder surely now being spent on the treatment table.

No surprise whatsoever to hear Phipps mentioned too.

Absolute madness to offer either of these two any type of contract.
The money that Balanta alone has cost us is a tragedy.

Quite correct. The money that both Balanta and Phipps have cost in wages over the past few seasons for so little return is scandalous. Why on earth we offered these two contracts l have no idea. Coupled with the fact we have offered a contract to the Cat Man (Alias Zouma) l have no idea. He put the club’s reputation through the mire and had every right to get shot of him, only to give him another contract. For the money those three cost the club, we could have got in one decent experienced top level player, instead of which we have three lame ducks !

Can't say I'm not disappointed by this news. Means Balanta will only play in 22 games of the first half of the 3 year deal he signed last August, and means the new centre backs will be pushed in to playing more, although (cat business aside) Zouma will be a solid backup when he comes back and doesn't sound like he'll be out for too long.

This coupled with all these goals we're letting in from set pieces means my excitement has been tempered since the end of last season.

Given that we only sign players from the glass factory I have no doubt the quality player you crave would have ended up suffering the same fate.

Looking at the records of all the signings this summer don't feel you with confidence and if Josh Walker the recent extended contract player is fit for half the games I will take that now, good player there is no doubt but another player I dint think will stand up to anything more then half dozen games a time

Balanta is disappointing but at least you can see why the punt was taken. The Person who thought it a good idea to resign sick note Phipps who has spent more time on his back then a porn star must have had his head in a tumble dryer.

The final decision on that front must be Thommo. The club has a habit of offering extended contracts and to manager's too. Burnett springs to mind and recently McMahon.

On another note, watched the hew ITV4 highlights show if the EFL. How the likes of Morecambe and Accrington have done . The grounds look much improved and they've sustained league 1 presence. The clubs must have been managed well. Nearly 5000 at Morecambe yesterday!
