Several billion miles up north - midweek, following around a decades worth of rain.
Would take a draw...
C'mon you Daggers
Gateshead..
Who makes the decisions on our recruitment? If it’s Strevens, why does he sign a striker who is not better than the centre half we are playing up top? Feels like this club has been on the cusp of getting some great results and runs this season, but just the sheer obvious stuff is holding us back. Very frustrating and it’s hard to still not worry that it could see us going down.
Didn't attend the game so happy to be corrected, but all of the in-game updates appeared to suggest we had multiple chances to score and couldn't put the ball away.
Story of the season but making it an ever increasing concern that multiple teams in the playoffs come the end of the season will be little better than us, outside of their ability to pick up points when playing well.

More points dropped by not playing a striker, absolutely no point in bringing in the young lad if we’re not going to play him. Phipps has done an honorable job up top but let’s be honest it’s a joke we continue to be this amateur about things but then I guess that comes down to either the owners not caring anymore despite recent appearances and still being run by Mr incompetent, Strevens can only do so much so no blame on him here.
Luckily for us all the teams around us didn’t really do much results wise but if we continue the same way things could get really messy, 1 win in 6 is not good form going into a scrap.

Tough one to take, having restricted Gateshead to most likely the fewest clear-cut opportunities they'd have created against anyone all season. Unfortunately, they only needed one while we wasted several and therein lies the difference. The start was a continuation of Saturday, very passive and allowing the opposition exclusive ownership of the ball in our half. However, we then started to press well and win it high, eventually building up to a really strong spell around the hour mark which should have brought an opener. Gateshead then struck the winner; we switched off and, in a split second, a pass was across goal for their dangerman to reach first at the near post. Have to say we were seriously poor after that, unable to muster any resistance until virtually the final second when Hessenthaler dragged a huge chance - the chance - wide.
Would never claim to be the master tactician, and (again) wasn't at the game, but I couldn't understand how Tavares coming off saw Hare replace him, rather than Phipps go in to defence and our new youngster come on up front? It wasn't even a like-for-like defensive change as Hare is predominately a full back and a smaller player than our traditional centre backs.Diggerthedog wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 10:34 am More points dropped by not playing a striker, absolutely no point in bringing in the young lad if we’re not going to play him.
