Aveley friendly
One definitely confirmed is Bivesh Gurung, a defensive midfielder who was at Maidstone. They offered him a new deal and he seems relatively well rated by their fans.
One may be Rashawn Scott from Bishop Stortford. Certainly looks spitting image of him, and the bench were calling him Shaun. Confusing part is that he only just signed a new deal there. But then again, Hemmings only just signed a new deal at Kiddy...
Others still unidentified.
We've got several centre backs amongst that, and also made a loan offer for another. Despite having Harrack and Rendall as cover already, makes you wonder if they're already concerned about Maghoma being fit in time.

Three of our players were not available according to our manager and then we had six players on trial so can we really judge our forthcoming season on this?ARNU wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 9:23 pm I've gone home. Dreadful.
No4 first half looked tidy,
Stevenson and the Chinese looking bloke 2nd half seemed up for it.
I know it's about fitness but I've seen nothing that suggests this season will much fun.
If we can keep hold of the giant centre back from yesterday I will be pleased... Monster of a guy and had several attempts to run the ball out from defence through to the middle of the pitch, rather than just a short pass between defenders or to NGuessan like we saw first halfMark wrote: Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:23 pm One definitely confirmed is Bivesh Gurung, a defensive midfielder who was at Maidstone. Gurung put himself about in midfield when others were largely anonymous and I liked the little number 4 first half, if that was Scott (certainly looks like him),although the guys next to us didn't fancy him so it's all on personal opinion I guess.Mark wrote: Sat Jul 05, 2025 1:23 pm One definitely confirmed is Bivesh Gurung, a defensive midfielder who was at Maidstone. Unsure who the big striker first half was and would like to see where we got the big number 3 from.
Even after a sleep I'm still terrified after yesterday of us staying NGuessan and Lawless together in a midfield with a back three... Never seen so many sideways passes and passes back to a keeper even behind in a game... At one point NGuessan chucked one back to the goalie from ten yards inside the Aveley half with nothing on up top

I've watched enough football in my time and of course pre season is about fitness. But what I saw for 90 minutes yesterday was part timers, also largely a group of new players and a new manager comfortably dominate our entire squad less 3. My comments re what I witness stand. It was awful.len wrote: Sat Jul 05, 2025 2:25 pmThree of our players were not available according to our manager and then we had six players on trial so can we really judge our forthcoming season on this?ARNU wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 9:23 pm I've gone home. At least Bradbury got to see how useless Randall and Umerah are in person. .
Lastly please remember this season is being sold to us as one where we get promoted immediately. So I think it wasn't too outrageous for me to expect us to dispatch newly relegated part timers Aveley. Fair play to them they were way better than us.
Bollix to Shampoo, it's real poo we want !
Not sure about this season being sold to us on being promoted immediately. I would say that is obviously the managers ambition but probably along with a dozen other clubs in our division.
Also at the moment we are not even sure who our owners are, so certainly haven’t heard of their plans and ambitions for the season.

If promotion isn’t the aim for this season then what the F**k is? Any team whatever league should be looking at coming first and if not then give up now, no point in starting with the ambition of being also rans!
We’ve had a few years now of underachieving at our level and some wonder why we aren’t renewing season tickets.
Show me a good loser or someone who accepts losing and I’ll show you a loser.

Over the last at least five or six seasons we have been told by our different owners and various managers that we are aiming to get promoted this season into the football league.
My point is that has been so far from where we are now in National League South all that has been total nonsense.
I don’t want to be in this league along with lots of others but because the manager has mentioned promotion doesn’t unfortunately guarantee anything other than an ambition.

I'm assuming we had a dreadful season following these pretty successful pre season results, losing only one match, then:Auntie Merge wrote: Sat Jul 05, 2025 10:32 pm Re the result.
