STATEMENT ON PLAYER ABUSE

This is my first post on this forum and I’m sorry for it being such a negative one. Firstly I want to say this is a great club and the fans and players deserve so much better and I really want to see that happen. But I’d like to ask fans to think twice before giving the players abuse like what happened today and previous games. My son is one of those players and yes the results have not been good enough for what a club like this deserves. The players know that, speaking to him this evening and he is heartbroken by today’s result. But unfortunately I don’t think the fans fully appreciate what the players are going through right now, and the abuse I’ve seen is getting to the point where I don’t care if I get in trouble now for saying something.
The players are just as worried as you fans about the future of the club, and their careers. Even Carroll isn’t in the know enough to tell them what’s going on and in fairness to him he is not happy with this either. Whilst he wants things to progress ASAP all he is aware of is that these owners are having second thoughts and the lads now know that there is now a money problem at the club. These new owners will not have more money invested on their behalf until they have made their mind up, and the existing custodians will not invest a dime either. Which is why these players are not getting additional support they want in terms of signings and clearly why they haven’t paid off this useless manager to leave. Then as many probably now know the squad have been told that it’s not certain if their wages can be paid in full without someone investing money into this club.
I completely apologise and know their performances are not up to scratch for what a club like Dagenham & Redbridge deserves. Most of these players are all aware of this and are not satisfied with their results. I do see that they want to do better for this club. But I’d expect fans to start seeing the human side of things and ask themselves how would you perform at work when you aren’t even sure if you will be getting paid going forward. I really hope things can change for the better as the fans on the whole have been amazing to my lad. It’s a great club with a great set of boys in the squad too. But they are being let down by the ownership just as much as you fans are. So please think twice before aiming any abuse at them in the future. Be angry at the right people, please.
I really hope that we see things change and everyone gets what they deserve.
Thanks and COYD

If your son wants to spend the money I do to come and watch me work and I put the same level as performance as them. He would be entitled to shout whatever abuse he wants.

We’re staring down the barrel of a second successive relegation, been knocked out the cup by a pub team. The players and manager deserve all the abuse they get. Sub standard performances all season. Spend a fortune watching the club I love up and down the country, I’m more concerned about my feelings than that of useless professional footballers.

I have followed the Daggers home & away for over 50 years this is the poorest squad I can remember.
Absolutely abysmal again today - Full time teams occasionally lose to part time opposition that is football but not week in week out.
This team & Manager was meant to be capable of challenging for the league title what a joke!
It is no wonder people get frustrated.

If this guy is genuine and what he says about the financial situation at club is true. How much an individual fan supports or criticises the players is the least of our problems.

I wondered in August if people were getting paid properly or feared that they wouldn't be. That usually translates to poor performances. I thought the team would scrape into the play offs this year. It now looks like relegation is very possible.

If the top post is for real, and I suspect it is, then it doesn't shock me in the slightest.
However, the bare minimum you can do as a player, especially if your wages are still arriving in your bank account, is to give absolutely everything to win. It doesn't matter if there's uncertainty or rumours. You get paid, you do your best. And tbh, even if you don't get paid, you show some professional pride so that if it all does go wrong, another club might realise you have a good attitude and pick you up.
This isn't the first time we've had these rumours as a club and any player who leans on them as an excuse is a pathetic and weak person.

I’ve been under redundancy notice at work about 3 times in a decade, I pull my socks up and get on with it and hope that I don’t get made redundant. Lots of excuses here for a poor showing, grow a pair a ******** balls or resign, nothing professional about any of it.

Club need to make a statement.

I’m in two minds about the original post.
It has nothing to do with asking the supporters to stop abusing the players but whether some of it is true.
1. I am always wary of stating publicly the club has severe financial difficulties (if true) because in the business world you learn how any rumblings can quickly cascade a business into oblivion.
2. I have heard from others that the players have always been paid on time. Failure to do so would probably result in points deductions.
3. In times of hardship, players usually raise their game not lower it, as they want to be snapped up by other clubs. I didn’t see Southend players lowering their heads during their prolonged troubles.
4. As admin on the forum, I can see the person posting has purposely avoided detection. I am always wary about this when the poster comes on here with a first post and dumps a lot of poo at the supporters door. Regardless of what others may think, there is relatively little censorship on here but we do remove libellous posts and keep within the new online safety act.
5. So much more I can write but I’m in an extremely busy period at work at present. Just play nicely.

That is true players do usually pick up the performances when they’re going through hard times. But clearly they’re not picking up their effort here which is why I will continue to tell them exactly what I think of them after the full time whistle.
It is concerning though that we have no news on the ownership situation, and can I see this being true that we are edging towards a financial mess where there could be problems with wages? Absolutely I do, as we have done it once before not so long ago. The club needs to come out and address this.

They might as well announce something. If they're trying to announce it when the 'pressure' has eased off, then they will be making a silly decision. It's going to kick off either way, whether if we're unbeaten or winless.

Well I'll disagree with some of my fellow fans- the OP is right about personal abuse. Yes, I get the argument you pays your money, you have a voice etc but it's one thing to have a go at the players if they think players aren't putting in the effort and I totally agree with that but I think there's a line to be crossed and I've heard some our fans cross it (not so much this season as haven't seen enough games yet, but last season). And the analogy about your own job - okay, but I wouldn't expect anything to call me a f****"** C... Etc

If this statement was false, and both the current custodians and the new 'ownership' group are funding the club - why haven't they appointed a new assistant manager, loaned in more players for squad depth & why is this taking an awfully long time?

How long did it take Newcastles owners to take over, a very long time and who knows who these ‘Qatari’ investors are which might lead to delays. Just guessing at the length of the delay, the way Hall was kicked into touch by Club underdog it might be him dragging his heels on this as last little dig, who knows.
As I said earlier a club statement is required and quickly or this will end up turning into last season’s tinderbox.
