The 1974 final was the last ever Amateur Cup final. (It became the FA Trophy the following year).
It was played between Ilford and Bishops Stortford (managed by a certain Ted Hardy esq) and Stortford won 4-1.
Going back to 1971 it was great to see the footage of the final (painful as it was to be ...

Re: Local Derby
Quite agree, South Shields does seem like a long hike for a friendly.
However, I like to think that there might be some thought behind it.......Years ago I heard that John Still liked to organise a long distance pre-season friendly (Tiverton, Nailsea, Bromsgrove etc) just to remind the players what ...

Re: Better than winning 6-0...
Congrats Auntie
You sounded well made up by the award. Well done.
As for 6-0 wins - yes they really are great. However, six 1-0 wins in a row to start the season would be just as welcome.........
Onwards and upwards!!

Re: John Grabowski
According to the European Football Statistics website we had an average gate of 2000+ in each season from 2008 to 2012. In 2010/11 (the year in Div 1) the average gate was 2770.

Re: 19 years ago today
Yes they were an exceptional team that was patiently built over time. Young, hungry players were nurtured, allowed to make mistakes and allowed to learn and improve. There was also some old experienced heads in key positions.

Re: Bath (A)
A dull game that neither side deserved to win (or lose for that matter).
According to the man on the tannoy, the first league meeting between D&R and Bath since 1996. How the mighty have fallen.

Why do we keep playing the ball out of defence by passing it to ...

Bath (A)
As a long suffering Exile, I very rarely get to see the Mighty D&R in the flesh.
Tomorrow, however, is different. The Sister-in-Law lives in Bath and Lady Snooty has suggested a trip out to NE Somerset to spread the joy. The excitement is palpable as the hours tick down........
Any thoughts or ...

FA Trophy
I see that we have been drawn at home in the second round of the FA Trophy.
We play Tilbury on December 12.
They are currently 18th in Isthmian North.
I wonder how we will eff this one up?

If anyone ever needed any evidence of how far we have fallen.......on Saturday September 13 we will be playing in an FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round match for the first time since 1999.
We are playing Bedford Town from National North.

Re: Best ever games in Daggers history
Hello Auntie
I suggested that debacle as an example of how it is always darkest before the dawn....however, I agree, let us expunge that result from the records forever.
As an alternative – (sorry, another defeat) – Aug 2013 - Stockport 1 Dagenham and Redbridge 0.....
