Lee said there will be some more coming in yesterday and I’m curious to see what calibre they will be. With the new owners coming in and the immediate arrival of Andy Carroll, I think we all expected that we would have some money to throw around. But when you look at things, whilst we have made some strong signings (Haigh, Hemmings, Young, Howes) none have been showstoppers with maybe the exception of Hemmings.
I think the next batch of signings will give us a clear indication of what sort of money we have. As it’s clear we desperately need some quality that can stay fit and the profile of what we need won’t come cheap.
New Signings
Maybe the pre-season games so far haven't been the best example to support my view, but I think Haigh is going to be a star... I don’t see anymore extravagant signings as all the better players are signed up already. We might pick up some free agents or some loans but don’t see much changing between now and next week. Where has Dieng been playing? Wikipedia suggests he a 'midfielder and defender' who used to play up front in France after originally starting his career as a goalkeeper!
