Let's face it, Bedford were awful across 180 mins (plus stoppage times). Yet we only managed to beat them thanks to a somewhat flukey goal in a replay that, were they half decent, they would have at least equalised in.
What is the obsession with sitting back and trying to defend a one goal lead for 60+ mins? Bedford hardly had a look in in the first 25 or so mins last night (and ditto Saturday) but then we just concede all ambition of scoring ourselves and try to park the bus for the remainder of the match. It's a truly dreadful watch, its a tactic that has been proven many times not to work for us (yes, i know we won in the replay last night) and it will not see us getting anywhere near the top end of the league table.

Well the manager from his interview seems to agree with the criticisms about how the game went yesterday evening. A team with players that have little or no confidence , who are fearful of making mistakes and seem to panic and make poor decisions when in possession of the the ball. Leadership on the pitch ? Lack of experience and ability? Time for the manager, the coaching staff, and the senior players to step up to their responsibilities. Easier said than done. Keeping 11 players on the pitch might help as well.
The reason for the low attendance numbers is simple, league games the club keeps all gate receipts, cup games the gate receipts are shared equally, hence the low numbers!len wrote: Wed Sep 17, 2025 9:35 am Firstly cannot believe the official attendance as all the seating seemed to be full and they had to allow at least another hundred to stand behind the goal so not sure what or how the attendance could be accurate or possibly calculated.
We have a player such as Andy Carroll up front you need a player striding up the wing producing crosses into the area that Andy can get on the end of but this was completely lacking.
We signed Ashley Hemmings to score goals but often he seems to play too deep or otherwise takes shots from thirty five yards out that go way over the bar. At the moment he does not look as though he is likely to score many goals.
We also desperately need someone with some driving force in midfield who can win the ball and also has the determination to run at defences and create something. At the moment teams seem to dominate possession and we seem to stand off and have no idea how to get the ball back.
I cannot see much progress until things are changed and improved.
