A solid second half display saw us finish on top and for once a last minute winner (as opposed to conceding) sees us end the game with three points and a first step in the right direction.

Let's take it game by game and see where we are come new year's day.

Excellent commentary again lads keep up the brilliant work!

Didn’t see anything today that gives me any indication that we are going to building on the appallingly bad start to the tenure of Mr Bradbury, and definitely not sure of getting much out of Tuesdays game based on the tactic he uses which is basically hoof it towards Carroll and hope someone feeds off of it.

I wondered if they got Harris in with a view to sacking Bradbury soon :beg:

Apparently the attendance was over 1500 yesterday,
I wonder where 400 were hiding! My guesstimate is no more than 1100

It's a big IF but if we can keep Carroll, Dieng and Lawless fit to play most games along with say Hemmings and Haig we have the nucleus of a decent team. I would also perhaps add Rashawn Scott to that list as he has been very impressive in the last two home games and is one player we have who is able to run at defenders and cross the ball.
I do think however, that the defence needs either some new players or a change of system because we do look very open at times and concede far too many goals.

Yep I thought more like 1200 and then they announced around 200 away fans I think - didn't seem anywhere near 200 in that stand (I know they had a few others in the Carling but still..)

There’s a player at Kidderminster who could be decent for us. Wonder if we’ll take a look

Kalambayi is our best defender so couldn’t understand the logic behind the loan but behind the scenes the rumour being that he doesn’t want to play for us because he thinks he is too good for this division. The situation needs sorting out and he either plays for us or ged rid of and get someone else in.

Harrack has a great attitude but he isn't a centre back. He got sucked in twice yesterday for their 2nd goal, not all down to him, but it's fine margins. He also lost his man at Torquay which coughed up a big chance they thankfully missed.

The two strikers pick themselves, behind them we need 442 and 352 options.

For me, considering who is fit, the 442 has to be something like
Rendall, Graham, Panter, ??
Lusala, Dieng, Harrack/Lawless, Scott

The 352 something like
Rendall, Graham, Panter
Lusala, Dieng, Harrack/Sidwell, Lawless, Scott/??

In other words, we desperately need someone who can play left back in a 4, and provide a more defensive option to Scott as a LWB against better sides or certain game situations. Perhaps Panter could be LB in a defensive 4 when Maghoma is back but I would worry about him pace wise. Broad is a failed experiment so far and I'd probably send him back.

I also think we need something new wide right, Lusala as RM in a 4 is probably a square peg in a round hole but there's nobody else really at the moment. He tries to play Haigh there but it makes no sense to me, he's a number ten and we don't play a number ten in our system very often. Think we need someone who can cross the ball with far more quality, Carroll and Hemmings were disgusted with some of the "deliveries" they received yesterday.

Agree that Harrack is not a defender but played in midfield in some of the games and so much better there, he has a lot of energy and determination and scored at least one goal. With regard to Rendell he can sometimes be ok but makes far too many mistakes to be relied upon and therefore somewhat of a liability.
If we cannot get Kalambayi to play for us I think we need to get another defender if possible.

With a composed swipe amid the converse chaos from one final roll of the dice into a packed box, returning captain Timothée Dieng gave long-suffering Dagenham supporters a momentary elation they had not experienced for ages, in place of the far more familiar impending anger after throwing away a lead to struggling opposition.
